The journey of the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic flashlight continues with great enthusiasm, and on December 12, 2025, it will touch down in one of the most fascinating ports in the Mediterranean: Livorno, the beating heart of coastal Tuscany, which is preparing to welcome the flashlight with a day of celebration, culture and sports.

After igniting Rome, crossing Umbria and touching on iconic cities in central Italy, the flame's path lands in Livorno and then heads, in a striking island hop, to Sardinia, where Nuoro will host the Dec. 13 stage.

A memorable day for Livorno

Dec. 12 will be a historic moment for the city: the Olympic torch, lit in Olympia and carrying values such as peace, inclusion and sustainability, will pass through Livorno's most iconic places in an exciting relay race.

Flashlight route in Livorno( forecast ):

  • Departure: Terrazza Mascagni, an Art Nouveau symbol of the city overlooking the sea
  • Intermediate stops: waterfront of Viale Italia, Venice district, Old Fortress and New Fortress
  • Arrival: Piazza Grande, with public event and official celebration

The flashlight will be carried by torchbearers chosen from among former Olympians, young Tuscan athletes, volunteers and representatives of the local area, each tasked with walking about 200-250 meters. Each stretch represents a small passing of the baton between generations, histories and communities.

Livorno: sports, sea and memory

Livorno is a city that breathes sports. From fencing and rugby to swimming and sailing, the city has given birth to world-class athletes. Its open and welcoming character makes it the ideal place to celebrate the Olympic spirit.

Planned during the day are:

  • Sports workshops for children and young people
  • Performances by local associations
  • Musical and performance art shows at transit points
  • Information booths on sustainability, sports and Olympic volunteerism

A flashlight symbolizing the future

Also in Livorno, the public will be able to see up close the Olympic flashlight, made of recycled material and powered by bio-LPG, a concrete example of how the Milan Cortina Games aim to leave a green and sustainable legacy.
