Become a Torchbearer at the Milan Cortina 2026 Olympics: A Unique Journey

The Journey of the Olympic Flame represents one of the most exciting and symbolic traditions of the Olympic Games. For the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics, the relay will involve as many as 10.001 torchbearers along a path of 12,000 km that will go through all the 110 Italian provinces. The journey will begin on November 26, 2025 a Olympia, in Greece, and will end on February 6, 2026 at San Siro Stadium in Milan, during the opening ceremony of the Games .

The Path of the Flame

The Olympic flame will travel an itinerary that will touch all the 20 Italian regions, passing through symbolic cities such as Rome, Naples, Bari, Cortina d'Ampezzo and Milan. Each stop represents an opportunity to celebrate the Olympic spirit and engage local communities .

Who are the Torchbearers?

Torchbearers are Italian citizens who, through their participation, embody the Olympic values of solidarity, inclusion and passion for sports. They can be athletes, volunteers, students, professionals or simple fans who wish to contribute to this historic event. The important thing is to have a story to tell and a strong desire to be part of this unique experience .

How to Apply

Applications to become a torchbearer are open to all Italian citizens born before the Dec. 5, 2011. To participate, you must visit the official website of Milano Cortina 2026 and fill out the application form, telling your story and your motivations for wanting to carry the Olympic flame. No special athletic training is required; what matters is passion and enthusiasm for Olympic values .

The Meaning of the Role

Being a torchbearer means not only physically carrying the flashlight, but also being ambassadors of Olympic values: respect, friendship and excellence. Each torchbearer will have the opportunity to tell his or her own story, sharing with others the meaning of this symbolic journey.

Important Dates

• November 26, 2025: Lighting the Olympic flame in Olympia, Greece
• December 4, 2025: Arrival of the flame in Athens and start of the journey to Italy.
• February 6, 2026: Arrival of the flame in Milan and opening ceremony of the Games
